PhotoCalc Support

Learn more about PhotoCalc...

I upgraded to iOS 4 and the sunrise/sunset calculator only shows “Locating…”

This is a rare problem that occurs when upgrading that is easily fixed by reinstalling the application. Delete the application from your device (touch and hold until the icon begins to “wiggle,” then touch the “X” to delete). Then open the App Store and re-download the application.

You will not be charged to re-download an application you have already purchased. More information on this is available from Apple’s knowledge base:

I accidentally deleted the application, or it’s disappeared, how do I get it back?

Once you have purchased an application, you can re-download it as often as needed without being charged again. More information on this is available from Apple’s knowledge base:

When I start the application, I get a blank screen, then returned to the home screen. What’s happening?

After upgrading to a new version of PhotoCalc, the application won’t start. How do I fix this?

This problem is easily fixed: delete the application from your device (touch and hold the icon until it starts to ‘wiggle,’ then click the X to delete it), and reboot your device (hold down the home and lock/unlock buttons until an Apple logo appears on your screen). Once your device has restarted, reinstall the application from the App Store on your device, and it will open without a problem. There is no charge to re-download an application you have already purchased (see this article in Apple’s knowledge base).

Is the iPod touch supported?

Yes. The only limitation in version 1.0.1 is that Location Services are required for the sunrise/sunset calculator, so sunrise and sunset times will only be available when you are within range of WiFi hotspots which support Apple’s location service. PhotoCalc contains a database of locations contained within the application itself, so the sunrise calculator can operate without a connection to the Internet or WiFi to determine your current location.

Can I select a location to see the sunrise/sunset times?

Yes, PhotoCalc contains a database of locations to calculate sunrise/sunset times. The database is located within the application and does not require Internet connectivity, and can operate without using the device’s location services.

The location I am looking for is not within the listing.

To keep the size of the database reasonable, the number of entries had to be limited. We have a comprehensive global database of locations available to us, if you would like to see a new location added to the list within Sunrise, please contact us at and we will include it in the next version.
